Pryde of the Arcade!

Hello Gamers!

Today’s Game of the Day is the X-Men arcade game released by Konami in 1992. Depending on the arcade machine the game was for 2 or up to 6 players. Players would control the mutants Wolverine, Cyclops, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler and Dazzler. The plot of the game was a beat-em up with the goal of saving Professor X and Kitty Pryde from Magneto.

I loved playing this game growing up and I still love it now. Its probably one of the best arcade games out there and also one of the best superhero games too. One of the best things of the game was the bad translation of the game and being everyone except for Dazzler. If you were the last person to join the game you would probably get stuck with Dazzler no one's favorite X-Men. So with great sounds, game play, and replaybilty I give this game 8 Uncannys out of 10.

Earing your wings.

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Pilotwings orginaly released on the SNES on Augest 13 1991. Diffrent from meny games of the time Pilotwings's gameplay centered around you going thought flight school preforming diffrent activites to try and pass and move on to the next class level. The game also included meny bouns stages as well and even an expert mode after playing though the game the first time.

This has to be one of my top 10 favorite SNES games that played growing up as a kid and a lot of fond memories from playing it. One of my favorite things about the game was the many challenges you played in the game my favorite one being skydiving. The other activates were jet-packing, hang-gliding, flying a biplane, and flaying freely with bird-wings. The final stage of both modes was a rescue helicopter mission. This game is a great in general and I highly suggest you check it out. I give give this game 10 penguins out of 10.

A Sequel thats a Prequel?

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Lufia II:Rise of the Sinistrals which is an RPG released on the SNES in Auguest 31 1996.

Like most RPG's of the SNES era this was a very good game! The story was the main force behind in how it told of the hero for the first game tale of their father so you get to see what happen prior to the events in the first game. We owned and played this game before we knew the first game even existed so it was pretty interesting to see me and my brother's reaction when we found out this game was a prequel. All in all this game has great longevity, a great story, and many plot twists you get from a RPG. I give this game 7 swords out of 10.

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Primal Rage realeased in arcades in 1994 by Atari games. In this game you chose form a varity of charters as you fight each outer as dinosaurs adn apes in a fighting game style.

Playing this game is wicked fun. Fighting against one another as an ape or Dinosaur was really fun and the added aspect of blood made it more enjoyable. There is not much to say more more about this game except that it ported to a lot of consoles and that it did not have any sequels. This game gets 8 eaten worshipers out of 10.

Mr. Wilson's Worst Enemy.

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Dennis the Menace which was released on the SNES in December of 1993. This game was based on the film of the same name and was released to coincide with the movie as a merchandise item. In the game you control Dennis as you go though many levels based on the plot of the movie with you slingshot as a weapon. The game play is based on item collection and doing so in a limited set of time.

I don't remember why we bought this game or how we obtained it but this game is fun for about 5 min, but after that the game gets very hard and is hard to keep playing and paying attention. However, it is one of the games I grew up playing as a child and was fine when I played it as a kid but when I re-play it now it’s very bad. In general this game is not one you might want to add to your library and that I give this game 5 slingshots out of 10.

Before there was Farmville there was Harvest Moon!!!!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Harvest Moon released on the SNES of June 1997. In this game you control a male farmer as you grow crops, manage livestock, and woo ladies in the village to get married and have a baby. With many crops, different activates and many holidays that you can celebrate in town makes this game fun for all even those not interested in the farming lifestyle.

This was a cult classic for me growing up as a kid and it's still fun. Owning and playing this game in my house with my two brothers was fun also. There only being two save files we usually fought over who got the files and who we married in the game. It usually was the pink haired girl for me, green harried girl for my younger brother, and the church girl was usually was taken by my older brother. This game has high replay ability and is defiantly a play if you love Farm Ville. I give this game 9 cows out of 10.

Barells of Fun!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of The Day is Donkey Kong realsed in Arcades in 1981 and has been ported to many conuoules over the years includeiong to some hand held systems.

I love Donkey Kong as a Mario character and as a stand alone video game. This has to be one of the hardest and funnest arcade games out there if not one of the most famous. It even has a movie around it were a family man tries to beat Billy Mitchel's high score in the movie King of Kongs. I give this classic arcade game 9 power hammers out of 10.

Gothum's Caped Vigilante

In this game you control Batman in a side-scrolling adventure as you fight your way though 5 leavels of gameplay to confront The Joker in the famous bell tower scene at the end of the game.

I have not played this game myself but I herd this is still best Batman game to date. Seeing how I never played it I can not really give an in-depth report. So from what I heard and playing 10 min of it on my laptop I give this game 7 Batarangs out of 10.

The White Marshmellow?

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day's is Kirby's Dream Land released on the Nintendo Game Boy on August 1st, 1992. This game was Kirby’s first game into the video game world and is you typical side-scrolling adventure game where you suck up bad guys and defeat King Dedee at the end of the game.

Seeing how this is the first Kirby game I played and the first on that was released I had no expectations when I first played this game. In this game on the box cover that I found interesting was that Kirby was white instead of his usual pink color that he is known for today. In general this game is a classic Kirby game that gets 8 Maxim Tomatoes out of 10.

Happy Veterans Day!

Hello Gamers and Happy Veterans Day!

Today's Game of the Day is Operation Wolf released in Arcades in 1987. In this arcade game you an annother player controled two machine gun models as you tried to shoot enemies on the screen and tried to reach the end of the level while saving hostages.

This has to be one of my favorite arcade game to include mounted guns to have the palyers shoot the baddies that ran across the screen and to do it with a buddy was great. One of my favorite rail shooters games and I though with it's Army theme it would be perfect for today. I give this game 8 Operations out of 10.

We Got The Funk

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron released on the SEGA Genesis on 1993. ToeJam and Earl was a sidescrolling adventure game that had funky co-op and great gameplay that had lots of funky mini-games and great colors in the diffrent levels.

This has to be one of my favorite SEGA games growing up as a kid not owning a Genesis myslef I allways played this game at my neighbors house and had lots of fun jumping on the sponge bounce and laying down some funky beats. When I first played tihs game I did not know that this was a sequel to a first game and thought it was a great idea for a side scrooling video game. One thing that I think is inovative for it's time was the matching beats mini game. Way before Guitar Hero or DDR ToeJam and Earl had this mini game where you would have to remeber beats and keep the right rhythum in order to complete a level or gain a bonus stage in the game. I give this game 8 Jars out of 10.

Peter Pan Has Kids?

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of The Day is Hook released on the SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Gear, and The Sega CD in 1992 which is based on the movie released in 1991 by Steven Spielberg. In this game you control Peter Pan as an adult in a side-scrolling adventure where goal is to defeat Captain Hook and rescue your children.

Now this has to be one of my favorite movies of all time and when I finally got my hands on this game for my SNES I was super pumped and excited to play. As soon I got control of Peter I wanted to fly. After I flew around a while I got to the action and fought some lost boys on the first level. The best part of the game is wielding the golden sword that was seen in the movie. The only bad part about it is once you get hit you lose it. Which makes you have a dagger for the rest of the game until you get it again. This game is great in general but if you are not a fan of the movie you might find it too hard or repetitive. This game gets 7 Bangarang's out of 10.

From Russia With Fun!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of The Day is Tetris for the Nintendo Gameboy released in August of 1989. This was a milestone for puzzle games and was the first popular Game Boy game that helped pave the hand-held market for Nintendo and still making the kings of that genre today.

In the game of Tetris there are many modes to play, different music to play too, and different modes to play. This makes Tetris still toady one of the best puzzle games ever. I give this game 7 Tetrominos out of 10.

Obey Wario! Destroy Mario!

Hello Gamers!
Today's Game of the Day is Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins which was relased on the Nintendo Game Boy on November 2, 1992. In this game you control Mario as he goes though 32 levels  to stop the evil Wario from taking over Mario Land. This game is an imporant game in Nintendo history because it's the first game Wario has appered in.

This is the best Mario Handled game so far hands down. 9 Carrots out of 10.

Pow! Whack! Zing!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Comix Zone which was originally released on the Sega Genesis in 1995. In the game you play as Sketch Turner as you get sucked into your own Comic and have fight your way through 9 levels.

This game is great but like many other games released before the 3-D era it was too late for it's time. With games like Sonic Adventure and Super Mario 64 coming out this game had no chance. However, this has to be one of the Genesis's hidden gems because this is a really great game to play especially for comic book lovers. The game is your basic side-scrolling adventure in which you fight bad guys it progress though the stage. But unlike most early side-scrollers you play a character that is stuck in a comic world where he has no powers himself because he is a human. If you have never played this game I highly recommend you play it because it's possibly one of my favorite SEGA games ever. I give this 7 Roadkill's out of 10.

Shell Shock!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time. This game was released for the Arcade in 1991 and was released for the SNES April 12, 1992. This game is a basic two player beat’em up game where players fight though New York and then different time periods before they face off against Shredder.

                                                (Amazing Box Art huh?)

This has to be the BEST ninja turtle game ever hands down. If you have not played this and you are a Turtles fan you have to get it now. The best player that you could be in this game would have to be Donatello or Leonardo and the best level in this game has to be the Pirate level or the final battle with Shredder. The best thing about this game is the replay ability. I remember growing up as a kid that we used to play this game to death with my brothers and that it was one of the first games in our SNES library. I give this game 10 Pizza Times out of 10.

Turtle Power!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II The Arcade Game (Boy that's a mouthful) released for the NES in 1989. Even though this is a sequel this is much greater than the original Turtles game released on NES which is in my option was a bad game.

This is has to be one of the best Turtles games ever but not the best (Hint check back soon for that one) in general this game is basic beat-em action and great Turtle fun! So this game gets 10 Cowabungs out of 10.

Stripe me starkers!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is Disney's Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers which was released on the NES in 1990. This game has a two player cooperative mode which has the character controlling either Chip or Dale as they go though different stages that they would pick on a map and at the end of the game a big fight against fat cat would occur.

I LOVED this game as a kid and I love this game now. This game is a classic Capcom platform action based game released on the NES that is tons of fun to play. My fondest memories are playing with my older brother on the fist level traveling on telephone wires and throwing boxes at the bad guys. The greatest thing about this game is to hear the theme song in the game which is one of the best Disney theme songs in cartoon history. In general this is a great game and I highly recommend playing it. This game gets 10 chocolate attacks out of 10.

Fore!

Hello Gamers!

Today's Game of the Day is NES Open Tournament Golf for the NES released on September 1st in 1991. In this game you can play stroke play, tournament mode, and a match play against 5 golfers on three different courses.

I have to admit right off the bat I not a big fan of golf at all but I do enjoy mini golf at lot. This game is great for golf fans in the early 90's but for my review it's not going to do very well. First off this game is hard like all golf games and annoying. With only three different courses to play this game has little variety. Another thing that bothers me is the complexity of the screen. There are so many things going on screen with numbers that it's hard to have fun and enjoy the game with all the numbers. With my dislike for golf and the complexity of this game I give it 4 mulligans out of 10.

Amercia's #1 Family

Hello Gamers!

Hope you had a good holiday yesterday I sure did! Today's Game of the Day is The Simpsons released in Arcades in 1991 by Konami. The Game had you controlling the four family members as they tried to save the captured Maggie by Mr. Burns.

This game has to be one if not the greatest arcade games of all time. It has earned the title of the best Simpsons game to date which I have to agree with on a strong note. This game is your typical beat-em up arcade with mini games placed in between levels. My favorite thing about the game is that if playing with another person you can use both of your Simpson family members to perform a super attack. The ways that the charters attack on their own is unique and fits there personality with Bart his skateboard, Marge with a vacuum, Lisa with a jump rope, and Homer using his brute strength to attack evil doers. This game is great so if you find it at an arcade play it! I give this game 8 Duff's out of 10
